16 May 2002
Ellistar Sensor Systems made "the pitch" to the Ottawa venture capital and investment community
on 16 May, at the Celtic House competition final event. Coming out on top at the final was no mean feat -
there were 28 entries in all. The three finalists were Ellistar and two teams from Queen's University.
The Celtic House challenge is an intensive program. There are a total of six workshops, and all applicants
must submit two proposals; a one-pager in the first round, and a more detailed business summary in the main
round. Eight proposals are then selected for the semi-final round, and successful teams are paired with a
'foster CEO', who is an established business leader in the Ottawa area. In the case of Ellistar, we were
blessed with local phenom Richard Timmons, Founder and CEO of DOMUS Software, SAGUS Security and Intelligent
Photonics Control. This 'real-life' mentoring paid big dividends! Ellistar extends a gracious thank you to
Richard and the rest of the local volunteers for the Tech Venture Challenge, who have given us an outstanding
